More about Allied Gardens, California Allied Gardens is a white collar community in the eastern part of San Diego, California. It neighbors San Carlos and Del Cerro to the east and north respectively, and College Area and Grantville to the southeast and southwest. Allied Gardens was developed by Louis L. Kelton and Walter Bollenbacher in 1955. They purchased the 1,000 acres (4 km²) from the Waring estate. Their original business name was the Allied Contractors, hence the name. Greenbrier Ave. is home to the Allied Gardens Recreation Center and Allied Gardens Pool (next to Lewis Middle School) and further down the hill, just off Greenbrier on Estrella, are the community Little League fields. It has a small business district located on Waring road between Orcutt and Zion, where it becomes Grantville. The abundance of parks and schools in the community has resulted in a very family-friendly reputation. Conveniently located one and half miles east of Qualcomm Stadium and northwest of SDSU, Allied Gardens boasts of neither being too inland nor too coastal. Having the closeness to all, its residents find one of the better, less congested areas to live in. It neighbors San Carlos and Del Cerro to the east and north respectively, and College Area and Grantville to the southeast and southwest. |
