More about Miramar, California
Miramar is a neighborhood in the northern part of the city of San Diego, California, USA.

Although Miramar is mainly a commercial and light industrial area, many people live in Miramar. Most residents live on the Marine base MCAS Miramar (formerly Miramar Naval Air Station). Miramar was the site of the real TOPGUN made famous by the movie Top Gun in 1986. NAS Miramar was closed by the Base Re-alignment and Closure (BRAC) program, then re-opened as a fixed wing and helicopter base for the Marines in the 1990s. To the north of MCAS Miramar is the suburb Mira Mesa.

The land on which MCAS Miramar sits has been eyed by the city of San Diego for years as a possible replacement to San Diego International Airport, but the city's location in the southwest corner of the United States makes it a very significant location for national defense purposes.

Miramar was originally part of Scripps Ranch, founded by Edward W. Scripps. He named his home he built on the ranch "Miramar" in the 1890s, after Archduke Maximilian's castle in Trieste, Italy. The name eventually became applied to the surrounding mesa. Loosely translated from Spanish it means "a view of the sea".

Before becoming a military base in 1950, Miramar was a small, isolated community centered around a railroad station. No buildings from the original Miramar survive.

Marine Corps Air Station Miramar (MCAS Miramar), formerly Naval Air Station (NAS) Miramar is a United States Marine Corps installation that is home to the 3rd Marine Aircraft Wing, which is the aviation element of the 1st Marine Expeditionary Force. It is located about 10 miles (16 km) north of downtown San Diego, California, United States.

The airfield is named Mitscher Field after Admiral M.A. Mitscher who was the commander of Task Force 58 during World War II. The air station is the former location Pacific Fleet fighter and airborne early warning aircraft (F-4 Phantom II, F-14 Tomcat, E-2 Hawkeye) and is best known as the former location of the United States Navy Fighter Weapons School (NFWS), its TOPGUN training program and the movie of the same name. In 1996, NFWS was relocated to Naval Air Station Fallon in western Nevada and merged into the Naval Strike and Air Warfare Center (NSAWC). During the heyday of TOPGUN at NAS Miramar, the station was nicknamed "Fightertown USA".

At Mission Village Chiropractic, we specialize in gentle, highly effective chiropractic treatment. We give a very thorough spinal examination and locate specific subluxations. Addressing each subluxation individually rather than simply “cracking” the entire spine. With chiropractic care, we target specific subluxations, we are then able to utilize a very gentle, carefully directed and controlled pressure to restore your vertebrae back to its normal position. Serving San Diego County (Mission Valley) and communities within, our gentle treatments are extremely effective in helping to eliminate neck pain, back pain, carpal tunnel syndrome, wrist pain, headaches, sub-luxation, whiplash and many other occupational and recreational (sports) injuries. Using gentle chiropractic techniques, our goal is to reduce or remove any interference to your inborn healing abilities and guide you back to the path to optimum health.
